Sunny, With a Strong Chance of Wind

We couldn’t have asked for more beautiful weather on sunday if we had paid God to do it himself. Saturday was gross, hot, humid and raining. Being that it was an outdoors wedding we weren’t looking forward to it at all. Sunday arrived and it was GORGEOUS. Low 70s, no humidity whatsoever and not a cloud in the sky.

We arrived early to prep for the day and take pictures. I squeezed myself into Spanx, my pretty blue dress and ivory shoes and went outside.

Where we all were greeted with the wind FROM HELL. I think every single one of us girls except the bride had their dresses up over their heads at some point during the photo shoot and leading up to the procession down the aisle. We were nervous before but now we weren’t scared of being mortified by falling, oh no-that would have been a godsend, instead we were petrified of flashing the ENTIRE wedding crowd.

There were a lot of pictures taken, all of which were taken AFTER my camera had died, (I’m awesome, I know), only one bite of cheese (all I had to eat until the reception) and makeup retouched. I managed to nearly destroy my bouquet (totally blaming the fact my flowers nearly all fell off on the monsoon force winds outside) but it was time to head down the aisle. First we had to flash the groomsmen because Mother Nature had to have the last laugh then we started down.

The wind luckily held up and the ceremony was gorgeous. I couldn’t understand half of it since most was in hebrew but it was still very beautiful and i had to stifle in my tears. I must say, being up there with the bride was so much better than sitting down watching them from behind.

The reception was held at a restaurant, where immediately I came to find out I was at the best table. If not the table that I’m sure my friends the bride and groom wished they hadn’t invited. It was me, Sarah with an H (the maid of honor), one groomsman and a childhood friend who quickly became our new BFF. We laughed, we were loud, we were particularly sexual and vulgar. Mine and Sarah’s boobs were the topic of many discussions as they were definitely popping out in ways they hadn’t before.

And then there was the food. OH THE FOOD. SEVEN whole courses of food. I couldn’t move after the first three courses, and then came the pasta THEN the entree. THEN THE CAKE. We were in such a food coma we couldn’t be loud anymore. All of a sudden we were the quietest table. (That and the alcohol was starting to wear off, the cute bartender was slacking on his duties of bringing us lemon drop shots, which he brought me and Sarah despite the fact that he could get fired for it)

There MAY have been some flirting with the groomsman, not going to deny it. I also may have had Sarah telling me I should date him everyfiveseconds. Which you know may have been tempting if he lived in NYC instead of say, COLORADO.

We all ended up at the bride’s parents’ house for the remainder of the evening, where we all hung out, caught up, and found out information about one another that we probably didn’t want known. I realized how much I’m going to miss these guys when I leave for London, how much I love having them in one room together to laugh at and share memories with.

It was a great way to round off a fantastic weekend that was much too short and much too sleep deprived. After only an hour of sleep sunday night, I headed back to NYC to work at a job i’m beginning not to enjoy anymore, in a place i no longer want to call my home. With a small crush I may or may not have.

Sounds like a great time. Just think of all of the funny flying skirt pictures that will be around. Those will always make you guys crack up for years to come.

And thus, a slightly overfed, underslept, crushing Ashley returned to the City.

Sweets, I think you should move. Whether you move to London, Seattle, or Canada-it doesn’t matter. If you aren’t happy where you are, MOVE!
